Andrew Davies clocks UK M40 marathon lead in Bedford, while Jess Judd wins Cheshire 10km
The major event of the weekend was the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships in Gdynia, which meant less major events elsewhere.

Hytteplanmila, Hole, Norway, October 17
Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal set a Norwegian women’s 10km record of 30:32.
Zerei Kbrom Mezngi won the men’s race with 28:20 with Filip Ingebrigtsen sixth in 29:03 while brother Jakob, who last year won with 27:54, set off with the leaders but jogged home in 35:03.
The world’s top trail runner, Kilian Jornet, ran 29:59 in 18th place.

Cheshire 10km, Northwich, October 18
Jess Judd won the women’s race with a chip time of 32:32 despite having to slow over the closing kilometres because of stomach problems.
Omar Ahmed was first man in 29:24.
Andy and Olympian Jeff Norman gained a family vets double at M40 (31:19) and M75 (46:58).

Running Grand Prix Bedford Autodrome Marathon, October 18
British Masters M40 marathon record-holder Andrew Davies won in 2:17:13 to go top of the UK M40 rankings for 2020. He won by seven minutes as the first eight went inside 2:30.

Johanna O’Regan improved her PB to 2:41:31 to win the women’s race.
Kristian Watson won the men’s half-marathon in 68:04 while Emma Hodson (77:01) was first woman.

Mallory Park Festival 5km, Mallory, October 18
British women’s steeplechase champion Aimee Pratt was a clear winner of the women’s race on her 5km debut, clocking 15:53.

Harry Leleu won the men’s race with a 19-second PB in 14:07 while Alastair Watson was first veteran in 14:28 and he was one of the 20 of the first 21 who set a PB in the near perfect conditions.

Cecil Gittings Memorial Walks, Gravesend, October 17
In good racing conditions on a mild cloudy day, double Olympian Dominic King beat his brother Dan by a single second in the men’s 15km in 66:18, breaking Luc Legon’s course record by almost nine minutes.
Other course records were set by Abby Hughes (women’s 5km: 25:25) Christian Hopper (men’s 5km 25:06), Millie Morris (women’s 10km 54:33), Luc Legon (men’s 10km 45:29) and Abigail Jennings (women’s 15km 1:24:36).

Hercules Wimbledon Team Race, October 17
Highgate came out on top of the men’s 10-man event where the quickest runners went off in the first wave, with the next 10 going at intervals of one minute, Martin Duff reports.
The fastest time went to Nick Goolab, who had come home ahead on the first wave for Belgrave, with a 14:34 split.
The separate women’s event was over six stages and Georgie Grgec (16:35) led from the start for Herne Hill, as they won by two minutes from Belgrave, with Kent a similar time behind.

Ukrainian Walking Championships, Ivano Frankivsk, October 18
Ihor Hlavan won the 50km walk in an Olympic qualifying 3:47:31, while former world medallist Lyudmyla Olyanovska won the 20km in 1:29:18.

Modena, Italy, October 17-18
Antonella Palmisano set an Italian 10km walk record of 41:28 and the world lead went sixth on the all-time list with the best performance since 2002.
Corsa dei Castelli, Trieste, Italy, October 18
Ethiopia’s Olympic 5000m bronze medallist Hagos Gebrhiwet won on the challenging 10km course, clocking 29:49.
