Glenn Maxwell joins Hundred withdrawals as London Spirit sign Josh Inglis

Glenn Maxwell has become the latest overseas player to pull out of the inaugural season of the men's Hundred following the withdrawals of David Warner, Marcus Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada.
Maxwell was due to play for London Spirit on a £100,000 contract but has withdrawn from the tournament, having already pulled out of Australia's upcoming white-ball tours to the Caribbean and Bangladesh. The ECB are yet to confirm his withdrawal but Shane Warne, the team's head coach, has done so.
The Spirit, who will play their home games at Lord's, have recruited Josh Inglis, the Perth Scorchers and Western Australia wicketkeeper-batter, as a replacement player.
"Unfortunately Glenn Maxwell has pulled out of the Hundred," Warne said on a Fox Cricket podcast. "We were really excited to get him in the draft. We know he's a match-winner and we were excited to have him.
"Unfortunately he's pulled out of that and we've now replaced him with Josh Inglis from Western Australia, so we are lucky to have him."
Inglis is available after he was surprisingly overlooked for Australia's limited-overs tours, despite an impressive few seasons in both the Big Bash and the Marsh Cup.
He is already in the UK, playing for Leicestershire in the Vitality Blast, and has had an excellent season, scoring 269 runs at an average of 44.83 and a strike-rate of 174.67, including an unbeaten hundred against Northamptonshire last week.
Further Australia players, including Aaron Finch and Adam Zampa, are also expected to withdraw in the weeks before the start of the tournament on July 21. A number of the overseas players in the Blast are expected to be kept on as replacements, with Glenn Phillips understood to have been lined up for a contract, and Devon Conway and Lockie Ferguson already confirmed.
The next couple of rounds of Blast games are the final opportunity for unsigned players to stake their case for selection in the Hundred's wildcard draft, which takes place on July 2. Each team will sign one local player on a £24,000 contract, with Northern Superchargers picking first.
In the women's competition, teams have until June 29 to finalise their squads, though replacements can be signed closer to the start of the tournament.
