Mikel Arteta has said he couldn't rewatch Anthony Gordon's controversial goal from Arsenal's defeat to Newcastle last season but believes there is no lasting damage from his subsequent row with PGMOL.
Arsenal return to St James' Park on Saturday almost exactly a year on from losing 1-0 as Gordon's 64th-minute strike sparked a furious response from Arteta, who branded the incident "embarrassing" and a disgrace" as the goal survived three separate VAR checks.
Arteta was subsequently charged by the Football Association for improper conduct but later cleared by an independent panel.
Asked if there were any ongoing consequences from the whole episode, Arteta said: "No hopefully we are past it. We talked through it in depth and that's done. It is a year. A year in football is a long, long time.
"Every club has got its history and they have games and situations and comments. That is part of the game and we have to understand it as it is.
"Every decision I make I am going to be criticised, or nobody is going to understand or they will understand and praise it. There are always going to be opinions about our jobs, that's normal."
Pushed on whether he had watched Gordon's goal back in preparing for Saturday's game, Arteta replied: "I didn't stop on that sequence! I didn't want to go through that. It is already on my hard drive so I didn't want to go through that again."
Arteta confirmed Martin Ødegaard is still out with an ankle injury, Ben White is a doubt with a "joint" complaint but Gabriel Magalhães is expected to recover from a knee problem.
"We have a training session today," Arteta added. "If he [Gabriel] is able to complete that he will be available. He hasn't had any training sessions yet but if he can do that today he will be available in the squad."
Who can stop Sabalenka? WTA Finals talking points and vote
Aryna Sabalenka, 25, Belarus
Seed: 1
Best WTA Finals performance: Runner-up (2022)
2024 titles: 4
2024 win-loss: 54-12
With two Grand Slams and more ranking points than anyone else, she has been the season's standout player. A first WTA Finals title will cap it.
Jasmine Paolini, 28, Italy
Seed: 4
Best WTA Finals performance: Debut
2024 titles: 1
2024 win-loss: 37-17
Late-bloomer Paolini, also competing in the doubles, has enjoyed the season of her life. Having never previously made a Slam third round, she won a first WTA 1,000 title in Dubai before reaching the French Open and Wimbledon finals.
Elena Rybakina, 25, Kazakhstan
Seed: 5
Best WTA Finals performance: Round robin (2023)
2024 titles: 3
2024 win-loss: 41-9
A season of two halves for the 2022 Wimbledon champion, who has struggled throughout with recurring illness. She lost seven of her 41 matches up to June, but has not played since August.
Zheng Qinwen, 22, China
Seed: 7
Best WTA Finals performance: Debut
2024 titles: 3
2024 win-loss: 47-16
The disappointment of losing her first major final in Melbourne has been offset by winning Olympic singles gold. She goes into the finals having lost four of her past 32 matches.
Cokayne, who earned her first full-time Red Roses contract in 2019, will be 29 when the World Cup takes place in England in August and September next year.
A 2020-21 top-flight champion with Harlequins, the Provost Officer in the Royal Air Force has seen the sport become one requiring players to "commit your entire life to it".
"We joke that we only get five weeks off a year and it's all in one block," she said.
"When I go on holiday, say, with my friends, I've got to do a running session four times a week and a gym session.
"They ask 'why do you do it? we're on holiday.' It's those things that differ your life.
"I'm more than happy to do that at the minute - but whether I'll be more than happy to do that when I'm in my mid-30s, I'm not so sure."
Having won the top division of the inaugural WXV in New Zealand in 2023, Cokayne has just returned from repeating the triumph in Canada.
"It's still really new and finding its feet but it was really good," she said of the three-tier competition between national teams.
"As players, the more fixtures we can get against the best teams in the world, the better.
"There was a lot of jetlag during the first week back, for sure. I was still very much living on Canada time, for a while.
"It was a bit of a shock when I came back to the dark cold of Leicester that we've had."
Cubarsi: Lamine Yamal will win Ballon d'Or one day
Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí has said teammate Lamine Yamal has no ceiling and will one day win the Ballon d'Or award.
Yamal, 17, became the youngest ever winner of the Kopa Trophy as the best under-21 player on Monday. Named Young Player of the Tournament at Euro 2024 after helping Spain win the title, Yamal finished eighth in the Ballon d'Or rankings.
"Now everyone sees what he is, but I've known him for years and I know what he's like," Cubarsí, 17, told RAC 1.
"I think he has the ability to win it [Ballon d'Or]."
Yamal has picked up where he left off last season and has scored six goals and set up seven more in 14 appearances so far.
Asked if he thinks that Yamal has a ceiling, Cubarsí said: "I don't think so. As he is right now, he's at a spectacular level and to have him at that level in our team helps us a lot.
"He is full of confidence and that makes us happy."
Yamal is the youngest scorer in LaLiga history and the youngest player ever to feature at a European Championship.
Cubarsí, who grew up with Yamal at La Masía, Barça's academy, knows just how challenging it is for rival defenders to limit the Spanish forward.
"It's tough," he said. "You never know what he's going to come out with."
Mourinho left limping after collision with player
Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho has mocked himself after colliding with a player during a first-team training session on Thursday.
While preparing for Sunday's league game at Trabzonspor, the 61-year-old fell to the ground after being hit from behind by midfielder Ismail Yüksek.
The player was chasing after the ball and accidentally bumped into his manager.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United coach was quickly assisted by players as medical staff quickly ran to his aid.
He was then seen visibly limping as two members of the team helped him off the pitch.
Mourinho posted a video of the incident on Instagram and wrote: "Lesson to young coaches 'never wear same colour as players' ... they can pass you the ball ... or kick you from behind."
Mourinho joined Fenerbahce in the summer six months after being sacked by Roma. Fenerbahce are third in the Super Lig, seven points adrift of leaders Galatasaray.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has admitted that he doesn't talk to Virgil van Dijk about his contract situation.
Van Dijk is into the last months of his contract at Anfield and will be free to leave the club as a free agent if an extension isn't agreed. Speaking after their draw with Arsenal last weekend, the Liverpool captain said he was calm about the situation and put off talks about his future until later in the season.
Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold's futures at the club also lie in balance, with both players yet to sign extensions on their contracts that expire at the end of the season.
However, Slot remains unfazed by the situation as the trio's performances on the field haven't been impacted.
Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold are part of a backline that has conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League this season and Salah's six goals and five assists in the league have fired Liverpool into second-place.
"Contract situation becomes a problem if players don't perform as well as they are now," Slot said at a news conference on Friday.
"At the moment all three are in good place, performing really really well. There are ongoing discussion with the people Virgil says he has to talk to, and that's not me as you know. I talk to him about other things.
"Virgil is completely right that he doesn't know what his future is if he hasn't signed the contract yet."
Meanwhile, Slot confirmed that Alisson and Diogo Jota will miss Saturday's clash against Brighton.
"[I've] said it already a few times, always difficult to tell you exactly when they are ready as last phase of recovery can be a few days later or less.
"Let's see if they [Alisson and Jota] can join us after the international break.
"[Federico] Chiesa is not back before the international break. We are hoping he can do things in the international break then join us."
British number one Katie Boulter powered through to the Hong Kong Open semi-finals with a 6-4 6-0 win over Anastasia Zakharova.
Boulter, who is a career-high 27 in the world rankings, saved two break points in the seventh game of a tight first set, before making the crucial break herself in the 10th.
The second set was one-sided with Boulter winning it in just 30 minutes. The highlight was a stunning cross-court forehand after a lengthy rally in the fourth game.
"The first set I think I was on another planet," said Boulter, who also reached the Pan Pacific Open semi-finals last week.
"She was playing some good tennis. I picked up at 5-3 and played some really good stuff after that. I was free and relaxed on the court."
Second seed Boulter will play Yue Yuan in the semi-finals after the Chinese sixth seed beat American Sofia Kenin 6-3 6-3.
The 28-year-old is seeking a third WTA Tour win this season after victories in Nottingham and San Diego.
Sexton has brought 'real positivity' into coaching role
Following Sexton's retirement, Jack Crowley was given the starting fly-half jersey for this year's Six Nations, while Leinster pair Ciaran Frawley and Sam Prendergast are also in the squad for the November Tests against New Zealand, Argentina, Fiji and Australia.
As a master of the out-half craft, Sexton will naturally work with the current 10s but Easterby says Ireland will "lean on him for other things" as well.
"I think Johnny obviously having retired recently still has his finger on the pulse in terms of playing in that position in particular, playing in the 10 role," added Easterby, who will take over as Ireland interim coach after the November series while Farrell is focused on leading the British and Irish Lions.
"[It is] understanding what we do as a team and trying to impart some of that experience that hes had across the last few years and the way we play the game.
"And I know Jack Crowleys obviously had time with us and so has Ciaran, Sam less so, but I think all those guys are like sponges.
"They want to learn and they want to understand, they want to get know-how and then go out and try and put those things into practice. Johnny will just be able to give them a bit of guidance at times."

Voll's onslaught sets up record Thunder total in huge win
Sydney Thunder 212 for 5 (Voll 92, Litchfield 49) beat Adelaide Strikers 148 (Mack 51, Bates 4-21, Ismail 3-18) by 64 runs
In a record-breaking blitz at North Sydney Oval, Voll's 92 from 55 balls helped Thunder smash their highest total - 212 for 5.
The result marked the Thunder's most emphatic victory in the competition's 10-year history, and their second win in three games to start the year.
Two-time defending-champions Adelaide are now 1-2 to start the summer, in the shortened 19-game season.
And Voll was the star on Friday for Thunder, in just the 21-year-old's third WBBL match since moving from Brisbane Heat.
Brought to the Thunder on a three-year deal with the chance to open, the Queenslander smashed three sixes and 12 boundaries in her knock.
It marked only her second half-century in 61 WBBL games, but offered a glimpse of what is possible at the top of the order.
"Definitely [that's the best I've hit them]," Voll said. "I've been up and down the order, so it's nice to be settled at the top of the order, play my role really well and have the backing to play my shots.
"It was nice to be able to bat for a long time because I got out quite cheaply in the first couple of games."
She slog-swept Megan Schutt for a six early, pulled Darcie Brown for another six and put spinner Anesu Mushangwe deep onto the North Sydney hill.
The right-hander looked set for a maiden century, before she picked out Amanda-Jade Wellington at short fine-leg while trying to scoop Orla Prendergast.
Voll's runs came in 54-run opening stand with Chamari Athapaththu, before she and Phoebe Litchfield combined for a 96-run second-wicket stand off 52 balls.
Litchfield also peppered the leg boundary in her 49, while bringing her creative strokeplay with a typical mix of scoops and reverse sweeps.
The pair at one stage added six boundaries in seven balls, taking the game away from Strikers.
Heather Knight hit 28 from 15 late on as Thunder romped past their previous high total of 204 and to the third best score of any side in WBBL history.
In reply, Strikers were barely in the contest. Only Katie Mack's 51 held the innings together early, as Shabnim Ismail took 3 for 18 before Bates ran through the middle and lower order.
