A full house of titles in May in Slovenia, on Saturday 25th June Ukraine’s Maryna Lytovchenko repeated the feat at the Czech Para Open 2022 in Ostrava.

In Lasko, she had become the first player to achieve the distinction since doubles was introduced.

Adding to her women’s singles gold, she secured the same women’s doubles colour, partnering Hungary’s Zsofa Arloy, then in the mixed doubles in harness with colleague, Viktor Didukh.

Similarly, in Ostrava, following women’s singles class 6 gold, she joined forces with compatriots Marharyta Saltanovska and Maksym Nikolenko to claim the respective top prizes in women’s doubles class 20 and mixed doubles class 14.

However, there was one notable difference when compared with her Slovenian triumph; in the Czech Republic she was not alone. Additionally, Frenchman Antoine Zhao completed the full set.

After winning men’s singles class 11, in class 22, partnering compatriots, he claimed the men’s doubles alongside Timothe Ivaldi, the mixed with Magali Rousset.

One Step Short

Three titles, for Great Britain’s Sue Bailey, it was just one step short.

Gold in women’s singles class 4, it was the same in women’s doubles class 10 partnering Alexandra Saint Pierre from France; later in class 7, mixed doubles silver alongside François Geulians, also from France.

At the final hurdle it was defeat at the hands of Slovakia’s Boris Travincek and Alena Kanova (11-6, 8-11, 11-4, 11-9), the pair who one round earlier had ousted Alexandra Saint Pierre and French colleague, Fabien Lamirault (15-13, 12-10, 11-5).

The result meant, like Sue Bailey, two titles for Alexandra Saint Pierre; the previous day she had won women’s singles class 5.

Likewise, it was two gold medals for Italy’s Carlotta Ragazzini and Giada Rossi. Together they prevailed in women’s doubles class 5. On the second day of action, Carlotta Ragazzini had won women’s singles class 2-3, later on the concluding day, Giada Rossi enjoyed success in mixed doubles class 4 partnering Federico Crosara.

Titles

In the remaining women’s doubles events Brazil’s Sophia Kelmer and Felicity Pickard combined to win class 14; Ukraine’s Natalya Kosmina and the Czech Republic’s Denisa Macurova prevailed in class 22.

Success for Ukraine, it was the same in the men’s doubles; Lev Kats and Ivan Mai claimed class 18 gold.

Likewise, Spain’s Miguel Angel Toledo and Iker Sastre emerged victorious in class 4, Indonesia’s Adyos Astan and Yayang Gunaya in class 8, Great Britain’s Paul Karabardak and Billy Shilton in class 14.

Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles, there was also Spanish gold. Anders Cepas and Olaia Martinez emerged the class 17 champions; additionally, Serbia’s Peter Mihalik and Korea Republic’s Jung Younga secured the class 10 title, Indonesia’s David Jacobs and Hana Resti emerged the class 20 champions.

Attention now turns to Buenos Aires, the ITTF Copa Tango 2022 starts on Friday 8th July.
