Dodgers OF Taylor out with left foot fracture

Los Angeles Dodgers versatile outfielder Chris Taylor has a left foot fracture and will be sidelined indefinitely, he told reporters Tuesday.

Taylor exited Saturday's win because of what was then called a left foot contusion, and then left Monday's win because of a swollen ankle. A CT scan revealed the break. Taylor described the injury as a "small fracture" but said he was unsure how long he will be out.

"We really haven't even gotten to that point where we discussed a time frame yet," Taylor told Spectrum SportsNet LA. "Right now we're taking it step by step, and I don't think we've put an exact date on when a possible return will be."

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he is hoping Taylor will be back in a couple of weeks.

Taylor is headed to the injured list Wednesday. Gavin Lux, Trayce Thompson and Jake Lamb will platoon in left field during Taylor's absence.

Taylor, 31, is slashing .238/.319/.409 with six home runs and 27 RBIs this season. He signed a four-year contract worth $60 million to return to the Dodgers this past offseason.

The Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 5-2 on Tuesday night, pushing their National League West lead over the San Diego Padres to 5½ games, their largest of the season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
