BMC GOLD STANDARD RACES, Watford, August 10

Just four days after his 3:33.56 in that stunning Commonwealth Games 1500m, Elliot Giles returned with a quick 3:36.26 and led Tom Keene (3:37.70), Jacob Cann (3:41.61) and steeplechaser William Battershill (3:41.80, compared to an official PB of 3:57.84!).

Former European under-20 800m champion Khahisa Mhlanga continued her improvement at the longer distances with a 4:15.94 PB ahead of Maisie O’Sullivan, the daughter of Irish legend Sonia, as the first six went inside 4:20.

The continuation of fast 800m races in Britain continued as James McMurray won in a big PB of 1:46.96 as he became the 17th Briton to break 1:47 this summer.

Behind, 20 year-old Daniel Howells improved to 1:47.08 and England champion Ben Murphy took well over a second off of his best with 1:47.17.

Under-20 Jake Minshull won the C race in a PB 1:49.36.
