Full House for Joyce Oliveira, the Leading Name at Brazilian Para Open

The host nation’s Joyce Oliveira emerged the most successful player when proceedings closed on Sunday 9th October at the ITTF Brazilian Para Open in the city of São Paulo.

On the opening day of play she won women’s singles class 4-5. On the concluding day, the good form continued, in both events competing in class 10, she added the women’s doubles partnering Thais Severo, the mixed in harness with Lucas Arabian, a player in form. Earlier he had won men’s singles class 5.

Two titles for Lucas Arabian, it was the same for colleagues Bruna Alexandre, Lucas Carvalho, Paulo Salmin and Israel Stroh alongside Argentina’s Gabriel Copola.

Paulo Salmin proved to be the ideal partner, he joined forces with Bruna Alexandre to win mixed doubles class 17, before combining with Israel Stroh to emerge the winner in men’s doubles class 14.

One day earlier, Israel Stroh had prevailed in men’s singles class 7, Bruna Alexandre in women’s singles class 9-10.

Impressive form from Israel Stroh and Bruna Alexandre, it was the same from Lucas Carvalho, the men’s singles class 9 winner; he combined with compatriot Ramon da Silva to secure the men’s doubles class 18 title.

Success upon success for Brazil, for neighbouring Argentina, Gabriel Copola flew the flag. The men’s singles class 3 winner, partnered teammate, Elias Romero to men’s doubles class 8 gold.

Meanwhile, in the remaining events, there was further success for the host nation.

Jennyfer Parinos and Danielle Rauen combined to win women’s doubles class 20; Gabriel Antunes and Allana Maschio emerged the mixed doubles class 20 winners.

Proceedings concluded in São Paulo, eyes now focus on Spain; the seven day Andalucia 2022 World Para Table Tennis Championships, the most important tournament of the year, commence on Sunday 6th November.
