Perth Scorchers 2 for 110 (Mooney 38*, Green 32*) beat Hobart Hurricanes 9 for 109 (Graham 35, Peschel 3-13, King 3-15) by eight wickets

Defending WBBL champions Perth Scorchers notched back-to-back wins to begin their campaign, beating the Hobart Hurricanes by eight wickets at Blacktown in Sydney.

Scorchers restricted Hurricanes to 9 for 109 after winning the toss on Monday night, cruising past the total with almost five overs to spare.

Perth seamer Taneale Peschel picked up a career-best 3 for 13 from four overs, including the scalps of opener Lizelle Lee and Nicola Carey plus Molly Strano.
Legspinner Alana King, who opened the bowling, took 3 for 15, backing up her 2 for 17 from Sunday's nine-wicket win over Sydney Thunder.

King took the big wicket of Elyse Villani with her sixth ball, lbw sweeping, to set the tone and returned to remove Mignon du Preez and Naomi Stalenberg later in the innings.  Heather Graham top scored for Hobart with 35 from 28 balls, which included her side's only two sixes.

Hurricanes defended 125 for victory in their season opener against the Thunder but couldn't manage a similar effort.

Beth Mooney showed her experience with an unbeaten 38. She shared a 54-run partnership for the second wicket with Chloe Piparo, who hit 31 from 26 balls. Maddy Green freed the arms late in the piece to finish with 32 from 16 balls, including seven boundaries.
