South Africa bat, both sides make changes

Toss South Africa chose to bowl v England

An almost all-new South Africa attack will make use of a fresh strip in the second ODI against England. Despite the bowlers snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in Friday's series-opener, and World Cup Super League points on the line, South Africa opted to bench Kagiso Rabada, Sisanda Magala and Tabraiz Shamsi for Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi and Keshav Maharaj.

England also made changes to their bowling combination. Jofra Archer, who made his comeback to international cricket in the first match, and Olly Stone were given the day off with Reece Topley and Chris Woakes added to the XI.

Those left out will be spared having to bowl in 32 degree heat, which could feel much hotter with no wind at first and a slight breeze expected later in the afternoon. They will also not have to toil on what is expected to be a flat surface, with more runs in it than Friday's. Both sides batting line-ups were unchanged, with no room for Janneman Malan or Reeza Hendricks for South Africa and Phil Salt still out with illness for England.

A decent crowd had arrived before the toss, and more are expected through the match as Bloemfontein makes the most of a rare opportunity to see international cricket.

South Africa: 1 Quinton de Kock (wk), 2 Temba Bavuma (capt), Rassie van der Dussen, 4 Aiden Markram, 5 Heinrich Klaasen, 6 David Miller, 7 Wayne Parnell, 8 Marco Jansen, 9 Keshav Maharaj, 10 Lungi Ngidi, 11 Anrich Nortje

England: 1 Jason Roy, 2 Dawid Malan, 3 Ben Duckett, 4 Harry Brook, 5 Jos Buttler (capt, wk), 6 Moeen Ali, 7 Sam Curran, 8 Chris Woakes, 9 David Willey, 10 Adil Rashid, 11 Reece Topley
