West Indies opt to bat with one change; Mandhana, Vaidya in for India

Toss West Indies chose to bat vs India

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews opted to bat again after doing the same against England in their opening game. They made one change by bringing in offspinner Karishma Ramharack for left-arm-spinning allrounder Zaida James, who went for 22 runs from her two overs in the loss to England.
India got a boost with the return of vice-captain Smriti Mandhana after recovering from a finger injury she had picked up during the warm-ups which made her miss their opening clash opposite Pakistan. Mandhana came in for Yastika Bhatia, and India also brought in legspinning allrounder Devika Vaidya for Harleen Deol, who doesn't bowl as much.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who will be future Mumbai Indians team-mates with her counterpart Matthews, said India also wanted to bat first, after chasing down a total against Pakistan three days ago.

There are strong winds in and around the Newlands, of 45-60kmh and the temperature was a bit cooler than the previous days. The square boundaries are almost identical - 60-61 metres - and the one straight down was around 71 meters. The pitch continued to have big snake-like marks and Ian Bishop and WV Raman at the pitch report expected it be dry and of assistance to spinners.

India: 1 Shafali Verma, 2 Smriti Mandhana, 3 Jemimah Rodrigues, 4 Harmanpreet Kaur (capt), 5 Richa Ghosh (wk), 6 Devika Vaidya, 7 Deepti Sharma, 8 Pooja Vastrakar, 9 Radha Yadav, 10 Rajeshwari Gayakwad, 11 Renuka Thakur

West Indies: 1 Hayley Matthews (capt), 2 Stafanie Taylor, 3 Shemaine Campbelle, 4 Shabika Gajnabi, 5 Chinelle Henry, 6 Chedean Nation, 7 Afy Fletcher, 8 Shamilia Connell, 9 Rashada Williams (wk), 10 Shakera Selman, 11 Karishma Ramharack
