The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) has secured a partnership with NBS Sport to broadcast the National League on television, marking the first time in history that fans of the league could catch the table tennis action live.
This milestone highlights the progress of the sport in Africa, especially so with the upcoming ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals Durban 2023, the first time the event is held on the African continent in over 80 years.
The growing popularity of the sport has also inevitably led to a greater viewership demand that media broadcasters can no longer afford to overlook. UTTA’s successful partnership with NBS Sport illustrates just the beginning of what promises to be a bright future for the sport in Uganda, and further development of the sport in the African continent.
At the same time, it exemplifies the hard work of member associations in promoting the sport and bringing it to the forefront of their country’s sporting scene.
The National League commenced on 19 February at the Pearl of Africa International School, Kabalagala, and will run for six months every Sunday.
