The Minnesota Wild and forward Frederick Gaudreau agreed to a five-year, $10.5 million contract through the 2027-28 season, the team announced Thursday night.
Gaudreau, 29, was set to become a free agent following the season.
The news was released during the Wild's regular-season finale at the Nashville Predators -- shortly after Gaudreau scored a goal, expanding on his career high with his 18th marker of the season.
Gaudreau also had 19 assists and played in every game for Minnesota in 2022-23, his second season with the club. In parts of six seasons with the Nashville Predators (2016-19), Pittsburgh Penguins (2020-21) and Wild, Gaudreau has 37 goals and 62 assists.
Gaudreau also leads the NHL in shootout goals this season with eight.
