The 2023 French Open, which will be played in August, has received a major boost after inking a headline sponsor and securing a TV rights holder to broadcast the tournament.

Alpine, the renowned French sports brand, will be the title sponsor for the Paris Squash Project. It will be the first major PSA World Tour event to be held in France since the 1994 French Open.

PSA chief executive Alex Gough said: “To bring the world’s best players to Paris – one of the world’s leading cities for art, culture and sport – is incredibly exciting and we’re looking forward to kicking off the 2023-24 PSA World Tour season with a bang.”

As well as being held on the grounds of the Palais de Tokyo, matches from the early rounds will also be split across the Jeu de Paume club, Squash Club Montmartre and the Complexe Omnisports club.

Tickets for the Paris Squash Alpine will go on sale on at the beginning of May.

Meanwhile, L’Equipe Live, the broadcasting arm of the French daily newspaper, will screen the quarter-finals onwards of the event set for Aug 27-Sep 3 at Esplanade du Palais de Tokyo, Paris.

Emmanuel Alix, director of the digital division of the L’Équipe group, said: “For the first time in France, the group is happy to broadcast the Internationaux de Squash from the quarter-finals.

“This is a great opportunity for the L’Équipe website and application. This new right is part of our platform development strategy.

“This competition is added to our already rich offer of 2500 hours of live sport.”

The tournament is led by organiser Camille Serme, the former world No.2 who retired from the PSA Tour last June.

The tournament will see the top players play in the French capital in a $175,000 event for both men and women draws.
