The world of table tennis is abuzz with anticipation as the highly anticipated ITTF Summit 2023 approaches. From 22 to 24 August, participants will gather in the vibrant city of Bangkok, Thailand, for a transformative event that promises to shape the future of the sport. This three-day summit is set to be a dynamic platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and consequential decision-making.

During the ITTF Summit, industry leaders and key stakeholders will engage in crucial discussions on vital topics such as sustainable growth, innovative practices, and the evolution of World Championships. These conversations hold great importance, as they pave the way for the continued advancement and development of table tennis. This event offers a valuable platform for networking, exchanging insights, and collectively addressing challenges and opportunities. As participants come together, they will build connections, foster collaboration, and lay the groundwork for a stronger and more vibrant table tennis community.

Amidst the excitement, the spotlight will also shine on the host selection for the prestigious ITTF World Team Championships Finals 2026, making this summit a pivotal moment for the sport’s future. During the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the ITTF Summit, the host city will be revealed. The 2026 edition of the championships holds special significance as it marks the momentous 100th anniversary of the event. The announcement of the host city during the summit will signify a momentous occasion, symbolising a century of table tennis excellence and charting the course for the sport’s future endeavours.

As one of the oldest international sports federations, the ITTF has an illustrious history and has grown into a global powerhouse of table tennis, boasting the largest number of member associations among all sports federations. With its rich heritage, the World Championships’ 100-year milestone is set to be a marquee celebration for players, officials, and fans from around the world altogether.

 Bidding Timelines

Phase 1: Interest phase [end March 2023 – 30 April 2023]

Phase 2: Final Bid phase [1 May 2023 – 30 June 2023]

Phase 3: Evaluation of Bids [1 July 2023 – 24 August 2023]

Host Cities Election: ITTF Summit 2023 [22 – 24 August 2023]

With the Final Bid phase over, the attention now turns to the meticulous evaluation of the potential host cities. Bangkok, the vibrant capital of Thailand, has emerged as a strong contender, impressively showcasing the region’s growth and unwavering enthusiasm for table tennis. If chosen as the host city, Bangkok aims to provide an exceptional platform for celebrating the sport’s legacy while embracing new opportunities for its future. With a commitment to creating a unique and unforgettable experience, Bangkok’s bid shines a spotlight on the rich history and cultural significance of table tennis. It represents a bridge between the cherished past of the sport and the exciting potential of exploring new territories.

On the other hand, London, the birthplace of the inaugural World Championships in 1926, presents an equally compelling bid. A selection of London as the host city would bring the event full circle, returning it to its historical roots a century later. This momentous choice would pay homage to the sport’s enduring legacy and serve as a grand occasion for players and fans alike. London’s bid resonates with a profound celebration of the long-standing popularity of table tennis, captivating audiences across generations and reaffirming its place as a beloved sport.

This upcoming summit presents a unique opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts, share knowledge, and contribute to the development of table tennis on a global scale. Click this link and register now for the ITTF Summit 2023 before 21 July and let’s drive the sport forward while paving the way for a future filled with even greater achievements and milestones.
