World M65 record for Paul Forbes and fast sprints for Lansiquot and Glave

Scot sets world mark at 1500m plus news of fast domestic sprints with times of 9.99 and 11.01 in our track and field round-up

BMC REGIONAL RACES / GAA MILER MEETING, Scotstoun, July 28

Double world masters indoor champion Paul Forbes smashed the world M65 1500m record with 4:39.65.

The previous British record was Harry Tempans 4:44.0 from 33 years ago and the world mark was Simon Herlaars 4:39.87 from 1994,

Forbes was primarily a 800m runner in his youth, winning the UK title and running in three Commonwealth Games with a 1:45.66 PB set 40 years ago.

Imani Lansiquot moved up to third all-time in the UK 100m lists as she ran a legal 11.01 (1.7) three metres clear of Asha Philip. She also ran 11.04/1.6.

Nick Percy showed good form to win the discus in a seasons best of 63.84m ahead of Lawrence Okoyes 63.57m.

Jake N0rris won the hammer with a 73.25m throw.

Olympic 400m finalist Jodie Williams ran a seasons best of 52.98 but that only ranks her 15th in the UK this year.

Bekah Walton won the javelin with 57.06m as former world heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson came close to her PB with a 43.67m throw.

Croydon Harriers multiple English Schools champion Romell Glave, who has run the English and British Championships this year and is now clear to run for Britain after having options to run for Jamaica, sped to a 9.99/2.9 wind-assisted clocking but also ran a legal 10.13/1.5.

In the windy race,  world indoor finalist Adam Thomas ran his fastest ever time of 10.05 but in the legal race, Thomas was fourth in a near legal PB 10.22, also behind Nick Walsh (10.15) and John Otugade (10.20).
