WXV1: England make nine changes for Canada game
Written by I Dig SportsEngland have made nine changes to the side that beat Australia for their next WXV1 match with Canada in Dunedin.
Mackenzie Carson, Sarah Bern and Lark Atkin-Davies make up a new front row, while Cath O'Donnell and Morwenna Talling are in also in the forwards.
Ellie Kildunne returns at full-back with Claudia MacDonald on the wing, Amber Reed at centre and Natasha Hunt at scrum-half.
The Red Roses beat Canada 2-0 in their recent warm-up series for WXV1.
"We've named a team that we believe gives us the best opportunity to build on our momentum after the game last weekend," said England interim head coach Louis Deacon, referring to the 42-7 victory over Australia.
"The energy has been positive throughout our time in New Zealand, and it's been a great start to our time in Dunedin as we prepare for the next round of WXV.
"Our Summer Series matches against Canada were the perfect warm-up for WXV and we have no doubt they will provide a stern test once again on Friday night."
Wing Abby Dow, fly-half Holly Aitchison and Helena Rowland, who moves from full-back to outside centre, all retain their places in the backs.
In the forwards, lock Zoe Aldcroft, captain and flanker Marlie Packer and number eight Alex Matthews also keep their spots.
The Red Roses, currently top of the world rankings, secured a bonus-point victory against Australia on Friday to make a winning start to WXV1.
This is the penultimate game of the Red Roses' campaign, with the final match against New Zealand in a repeat of last year's World Cup final on 4 November.
New head coach John Mitchell linked up with the team in New Zealand last week, following Simon Middleton's decision to step down after a Six Nations Grand Slam was completed in April.
