QSF 4 2023: Momen, Crouin headline Doha event
Written by I Dig SportsEgypts Tarek Momen and French No.1 Victor Crouin will headline the QSF 4 2023, which is due to take place between November 23-27 in Doha, Qatar.
Both Momen and Crouin have fond memories of playing at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with the Egyptian having won the 2019-20 PSA World Championships on that court and World No.11 Crouin reaching his maiden Platinum final in Doha back in 2022.
Momen, who opened his 2023-24 campaign by winning the Windsor Cup in Canada, has been awarded a bye in round one of the PSA Bronze event before a potential second-round clash against one of Egypts Zahed Salem or Portugals 9/16 seed Rui Soares.
Elsewhere in the top half of the draw, World No.13 Fares Dessouky is set to face one of 9/16-seeded Abhay Singh or the Czech Republics Martin Svec.
Swiss No.5 seed Dimitri Steinmann, No.8 seed Raphael Kandra and Qatar wildcard Ahmad Mohammad Altamimi are also found on this side of the draw.
On the opposite side of the draw lies Crouin, who will play one of 9/16 seed Ryunosuke Tsukue or Egypts Yassin Elshafei in round two.
Crouin, 24, will hope to call upon his prior success in Doha, which saw him eventually edged out by World No.3 Mohamed ElShorbagy in the Qatar Classic final in 2022.
Seventh seed Omar Mosaad also lies in the Frenchmans quarter, with the Egyptian facing one of Englands Simon Herbert or Qatar wildcard Waleed Zaman in the last-16.
Home favourite and No.6 seed Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi, who reached the third round of the QTerminals Qatar Classic before losing to Momen in four games, has been drawn in the same quarter as No.4 seed Saurav Ghosal.
Before a potential quarter-final bout against the Indian, Al Tamimi will have to progress past either Velavan Senthilkumar or Pakistans Muhammad Asim Khan, while Ghosal will play one of Englands Ben Smith or Spains Bernat Jaume.
