George North: Wales and Ospreys centre ponders next move amid Provence link
Written by I Dig SportsGeorge North is weighing up his next move with French side Provence interested in signing the Ospreys and Wales centre for next season.
North, 31, is out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
Provence, who have Wales and former Ospreys prop Tomas Francis in their squad have ambitions of reaching the Top 14 and currently stand in second place in France's second tier.
North is Wales' third most capped player.
Only Alun Wyn Jones and Gethin Jenkins have played more internationals for Wales and North became the first Welshman to play in four World Cup quarter-finals in France this year.
He signed a two-year dual contract with the Ospreys and Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) in September 2021.
It remains to be seen whether he remains in Warren Gatland's long-term plans, but the Wales head coach says that is in the hands of the player himself. North has indicated he wants to continue playing international rugby.
He would still be available for Wales if he moved to France because he has played more than 25 internationals.
North started his career as a wing before moving to centre for Wales in the last couple of seasons. He joined Ospreys from Northampton in 2018 after starting his career with Scarlets.
There has been a growing exodus of international players leaving Wales with Gareth Anscombe and Liam Williams joining clubs in Japan and Leigh Halfpenny and Rhys Patchell heading to New Zealand.
