In a major shift, NCAA President Charlie Baker proposed allowing Division I schools to directly compensate student-athletes through name, image and likeness (NIL) deals. This comes over two years after the NCAA initially permitted NIL deals with companies, marking a significant change in the governing body's stance on athlete compensation.
