Munster have issued a stadium ban to a spectator following a incident in Saturday's Investec Champions Cup draw with Bayonne at Thomond Park.

Television coverage earlier showed a fan in the crowd tugging at the shirt of Bayonne lock Kote Mikautadze as players grappled by the touchline.

Munster said the supporter identified himself to the province on Monday to "apologise for his actions".

The incident occurred in the 45th minute amid a skirmish as tempers flared between the sides while Munster led the French outfit 14-3.

Mikautadze looked to confront the spectator before Munster flanker Thomas Ahern stepped in to usher the Georgia international away.

The spectator's ban will apply for an unspecified number of Munster home matches.

The Irish province said it would contact French side Bayonne and Champions Cup organisers EPCR to apologise.
