Barbeary banned for three weeks over red card
Written by I Dig SportsBath number eight Alfie Barbeary has been suspended for three weeks after being sent off in his side's Investec Champions Cup win over Racing 92.
During the hearing, the 23-year-old accepted his direct shoulder contact to Spring's chin warranted a red card.
His acceptance of the charge and good record reduced the ban from six weeks.
Barbeary is also eligible to complete World Rugby's Coaching Intervention course, which could further reduce his time on the sidelines.
Successful completion of the course will make him eligible to return from Monday 29 January, which means he will miss Sunday's trip to Toulouse in the Champions Cup and the Premiership derby at Bristol the following weekend.
Barbeary scored Bath's second try in their bonus-point victory over Racing, which secured their place in the knockout stages of the competition.
The back-row has impressed this season with his destructive ball-carrying and was unfortunate to miss out on selection for England's Six Nations squad.
