Curry exits Warriors loss with late ankle injury

SAN FRANCISCO -- Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry left the game after twisting his ankle late in the fourth quarter of the team's 125-122 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night. He did not return.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr didn't have an update on Curry's injury after the contest and said he needed to speak with team trainers. He said Curry had his right foot in an ice bath when he saw him in the locker room.

Curry's teammates were bracing for him to miss some games.

"I know we're going to miss him if he does need time off," Klay Thompson said. "We've been in this position before where he has had time off, and we just got to do it collectively. I know he'll be ready to go when he does come back, whenever that is. We just wish him a speedy recovery."

Curry, who was not in the Warriors' locker room when reporters were allowed in, has missed three games this season -- two because of right knee soreness and one to rest.

Draymond Green said Curry's spirits were high after Thursday's contest.

Curry rolled his ankle on a drive to the hoop with 3:51 remaining in the fourth quarter. Flanked by Chicago's Alex Caruso and Derrick White, Curry planted his right foot and rolled it.

He tried to walk it off, but Kerr subbed him out. Curry immediately headed to the locker room with head of player health and performance Rick Celebrini.

The injury occurred just two games after the Warriors got Andrew Wiggins back, giving them a complete roster for the first time since November.

"It sucks, but everybody deals with injuries," Green said. "You've just got to do the best you can in dealing with it."

Curry finished with 15 points on 5-of-18 shooting, going scoreless in the fourth quarter.

If Curry does miss time, Chris Paul would likely enter the starting lineup in his place. Paul has started 11 games in his first season with the Warriors, but not since early January.

"We know he is more than capable. He's Chris Paul," Green said. "It's been incredible having C here, but then you have Steph going down -- no one is Steph Curry in the NBA. But knowing you are going into the game with a guy who can win you game after game after game, it definitely gives you confidence going in knowing that you are more than capable to win games."
