Source: Rangers D-man Lindgren out a few weeks
Written by I Dig SportsNew York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren will miss "a few weeks" after suffering a leg injury in their 5-2 win over the New York Islanders on Sunday, an NHL source confirmed to ESPN.
Lindgren fell awkwardly near the end boards on a hit from Islanders forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau. He was eventually helped off the ice by teammates with his left leg dangling. Rangers coach Peter Laviolette said after the game that there was concern about Lindgren's left knee.
According to a source, the injury is not as bad as initially feared, and Lindgren is expected to make a full recovery.
Lindgren, 26, has 13 points in 66 games for the Rangers, averaging 19:13 in ice time per game. Known primarily for his defensive play, Lindgren has been the primary partner for Adam Fox.
The Rangers are currently in first place in the Metro Division with 94 points in 68 games. They're tied with the Florida Panthers for the best points percentage in the NHL (.691).
