Orioles' Bradish gives up 1 run in season debut

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and made his season debut in Thursday's 7-2 win over the New York Yankees.

Bradish allowed one run in 4 2/3 innings in his first start after beginning the season on the injured list with a UCL strain.

Bradish threw 51 of 84 pitches for strikes in his return from a rehab assignment that ended more quickly than some expected. He escaped a bases-loaded, two-out jam in the first and left with runners on the corners in the fifth before Keegan Akin (1-0) induced Anthony Rizzo into a popout to short.

"I think this clubhouse is pretty excited to get someone of that caliber back on the field," Orioles catcher James McCann said.

Bradish, 27, finished fourth in the American League Cy Young Award voting last season after posting a 12-7 record with a 2.83 ERA in 30 starts. He recorded 168 strikeouts in 168 2/3 innings.

Bradish owns a 16-14 record and a 3.68 ERA in 53 career starts since making his debut with the Orioles in 2022.

The Orioles designated right-hander Yohan Ramirez for assignment to make room for Bradish. Ramirez, who turns 29 on Monday, is 0-1 with an 8.74 ERA in eight appearances this season with the New York Mets and Orioles.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
