Giants say Lee has structural damage in shoulder

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee suffered structural damage in his dislocated left shoulder when he crashed into the wall Sunday and will seek a second opinion to determine his next steps.

Lee was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday and met with team doctors. An MRI revealed the issues in his shoulder, and he will be seen by Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Thursday in Los Angeles.

"Once he gets to ElAttrache we'll have a timeline," Giants manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday. "We're getting a second opinion to make sure we have all our T's crossed and I's dotted."

Lee hurt his shoulder in the first inning Sunday when it hit the right-center field wall as he leapt to try to make a catch on a drive by Cincinnati's Jeimer Candelario.

Lee was one of the big offseason additions for the Giants after starring for years playing professionally in his country of South Korea. He signed a $113 million, six-year contract with San Francisco and has been the team's starting center fielder this season.

Lee is batting .262 with two homers, eight RBIs and .641 OPS in 37 games as he adjusts to a new league, but has excelled in the field.

Also Tuesday, catcher Patrick Bailey returned to the seven-day concussion list after coming off it Saturday.

Bailey, 24, originally took a foul ball to the face mask from the Philadelphia Phillies' Alec Bohm in a game on May 3. He spent a week away from the team before he returned Saturday and played against the Cincinnati Reds but hasn't played since.

Bailey was hitting .280 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 26 games this season.

The Giants recalled shortstop Marco Luciano from Triple-A Sacramento in the corresponding roster move.

Luciano, 22, is making his first appearance in the major leagues this season. He played his first 14 major league games last season for the Giants and went 9-for-39 (.231) with three doubles.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
