Freire joined Inter Miami on loan from Liga MX side Pumas ahead of the 2024 campaign, making 10 appearances before the ACL tear.
The defender joins the long list of injured players at Inter Miami this season, including Facundo Farías, Federico Redondo, Diego Gómez, Ian Fray and Robbie Robinson. Benjamin Cremaschi, Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergii Kryvtsov, Robert Taylor and Leonardo Campana have also spent time on the sidelines in 2024.
Earlier this season, the team saw as many as seven players unavailable for selection due to injuries.
"The totality of the injuries have not been exclusively muscular," manager Gerardo Martino said on April 19. "There's the case of Federico Redondo with his knee injury, and Benjamin Cremaschi with the Pubis surgery, and more I may be forgetting.
"We have a game every four days. I'm sure as the season goes on we'll look to review if the preseason played a part in this to modify."
Miami did an audacious round-the-world tour in its preseason including stops in Argentina, Japan, Saudi Arabia and El Salvador.
Despite the injuries, Inter Miami continues to lead the Eastern Conference table with 31 points from 15 games and a 9-2-4 record.
