Written by I Dig SportsThe Miami Marlins placed Christian Bethancourt on the bereavement list Saturday while fellow catcher Jhonny Pereda was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Bethancourt, 32, is batting .162 with one home run and five RBIs in 31 games this season. In eight major league seasons with five different clubs, he is a .227 hitter with 31 home runs and 118 RBIs in 396 career games.
