Royals OF Renfroe's toe not broken, MRI reveals
Written by I Dig SportsHunter Renfroe's left big toe is not fractured, the Kansas City Royals said Wednesday, two days after the team initially announced it was broken by a foul ball.
An MRI revealed that Renfroe has a bone bruise and stress reaction in the toe, which will not require surgery.
After initially being given a six-to-eight-week recovery timeline, Renfroe is now expected to miss two to three weeks, the Royals said.
Renfroe was hurt Monday when he fouled off a pair of pitches against New York Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon in the third inning. The outfielder got off to a slow start this season but had raised his batting average to .200 with six homers and 26 RBIs.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
