Today marks a historic moment as the ITTF World Masters Championships 2024 in Rome proudly hosts Para table tennis for the first time.

The excitement was palpable as the Para table tennis competition kicked off. Players eagerly took to the tables, ready to showcase their skills and vie for world titles. The first victory of the day went to local player Augusto Casciola, who dreams of claiming the title in class 7.

The integration of Para Table Tennis into the World Masters Championships is a testament to ITTFs vision of Table Tennis for All, for Life. This milestone reflects a commitment to creating opportunities for all athletes to engage with the sport and compete at the highest levels. It underscores the sports dedication to inclusivity and the celebration of athletic excellence across all abilities.

We are here celebrating table tennis as a sport for all and for life. Whether you are a seasoned Masters champion or a newcomer to this scene, whether you play table tennis or Para table tennis, whether you come from Rome or from another continent, you are an integral part of our family, said ITTF President Petra Sörling.

The event in Rome has been spectacular. A record 6,100 players from 40 to 99 years old and from over 111 member associations have put on an incredible display of talent and sportsmanship. The finals will start tomorrow, and you can follow the action live on ITTFs YouTube channel.
