Two-time Wimbledon mixed doubles champions Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk were knocked out of the US Open in the first round, but there were British wins elsewhere in the doubles draws.

GB's Skupski and American Krawczyk, seeded fifth, reached the final of both the Australian Open and French Open earlier this year, but fell at the first hurdle in New York as they were beaten 6-3 7-5 by US duo Ashlyn Krueger and Thai-Son Kwiatkowski.

In the women's doubles, Harriet Dart and her French partner Diane Parry squeezed into the second round with a narrow 3-6 6-3 7-6 (10-6) victory against Czech Linda Noskova and Russian Diana Shnaider.

Heather Watson and American Asia Muhammad dominated a second-set tie-break to claim a 7-5 7-6 (7-0) win over Japan's Moyuka Uchijima and China's Yuan Yue.

Mia Lumsden and Czech Anna Sikova fought back from a set down to beat the Chinese-Romanian paring of Guo Hanyu and Monica Niculescu 3-6 7-5 7-5, while Olivia Nicholls and her Slovakian partner Tereza Mihalikova triumphed 6-4 6-3 against New Zealand's Lulu Sun and China's Wang Xiyu.

Lloyd Glasspool and Australia's Rinky Hijikata overcame Alejandro Tabilo and Diego Hidalgo 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-3.

But Jamie Murray and Australian John Peers lost in a tight third set tie-break against Andre Goransson of Sweden and Dutchman Sem Verbeek.

There was also defeat for Briton Luke Johnson and his partner Ariel Behar of Uruguay as they lost 6-3 6-4 to Alexander Erler of Austria and Dutchman Matwe Middelkoop.
