Sources: Broncos' Surtain gets record deal for DB
Written by I Dig SportsThe Denver Broncos and two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Pat Surtain ll reached agreement Wednesday on a four-year, $96 million extension that includes $77.5 million guaranteed, now making him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The $24 million average annual value of Surtain's deal is now tops in the NFL, ahead of the Green Bay Packers' Jaire Alexander at $21 million. The $77.5 million guaranteed is his contract is also the most in a cornerback contract.
Surtain, taken ninth overall by the Broncos in the 2021 draft, had the fifth-year option in his rookie contract picked up earlier this year.
