Avs sign forward O'Connor to 6-year extension
Written by I Dig SportsThe Colorado Avalanche and forward Logan O'Connor agreed to a six-year contract extension on Monday.
The extension kicks in with the 2025-26 season and runs through 2030-31. The team did not announce financial terms, but several reports said the deal carried a $2.5 million average annual value for a total of $15 million.
O'Connor, 28, had a career-high 13 goals and 25 total points last season despite playing in just 57 games due to a hip surgery.
A fan favorite who signed as an undrafted free agent with the Avalanche after playing at the University of Denver, O'Connor has skated in 263 games for Colorado and tallied 82 points (35 goals, 47 assists), 329 hits, 168 blocks and 139 takeaways.
"We are thrilled to have 'OC' under contract for the next seven years," Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland said. "He is a relentless worker and competitor who brings energy and grit to the lineup every night. His speed and skating ability makes him a dangerous two-way player and he is one of our top penalty killers.
"Logan is also a great teammate and takes pride in being a part of the Denver community."
