Rain Returns, Gatornationals In Delay
Written by I Dig Sports
GAINESVILLE, Fla. Eliminations for the 56th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals are tentatively scheduled to resume at 1:30 p.m. ET after rain halted action.
With weather expected prior to Sunday, NHRA officials moved the start time up to 9:30 a.m. ET in hopes to expand the series window to get the event in.
Following six of eight Top Fuel pairs, winds picked up as rain began to fall.
Through those rounds, Antron Brown, Clay Millican, Doug Kalitta, Dan Mercier, Shawn Langdon and Tony Stewart advanced.
The event was plagued by rain all-day Saturday as on-track action was fully canceled, including the final two rounds of qualifying and the Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star Callout.
The Callout moves to the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at Californias In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, March 27-30.
