Bowman Leads The Way In Homestead Cup Qualifying
Written by I Dig Sports
For the first time this season, Alex Bowman will lead the NASCAR Cup Series field to the green flag after scoring the pole for Sundays event at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Bowman posted a top speed of 168.845 mph. It was his sixth career pole.
Last weeks winner at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Josh Berry, qualified second aboard his familiar No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford. Fellow Ford driver Noah Gragson slotted in third place for Front Row Motorsports.
Im just really proud of everyone on this 21 team, Berry said. The car has been really solid. The guys are doing a great job. Were executing our Saturdays and now we just have to translate it into a solid day tomorrow. This track is really fun.
I felt good about my car in practice. We got in some traffic and weve got a few things to work on to be better, but, overall, a great effort.
The first Toyota driver on the grid was Chase Briscoe, who starts fourth with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Daytona 500 winner William Byron qualified fifth ahead of 2023 Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney in sixth.
John Hunter Nemechek (seventh), Austin Cindric (eighth), Bubba Wallace (ninth) and A.J. Allmendinger (10th) completed the top-10 positions.
Fridays NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series winner, Kyle Larson, starts 14th. He also won a High Limit Racing sprint car event earlier in the week at Californias Thunderbowl Raceway.
