Chinese success but Koreans make presence felt

Once again for those in the ÖVB-Arena Bremen it was a day to behold high class dramatic play.

Men’s Singles

…………Xu Xin, the top seed justified his status, he beat colleague, Yan An (11-5, 12-14, 11-9, 12-10, 8-11, 11-6).

…………Korea Republic’s Jeoung Youngsik caused a surprise, required to qualify he overcame the host nation’s Patrick Franziska, the no.13 seed (8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-8).

…………Powerful, China’s Liang Jingkun caused an upset, the no.7 seed, he ended the hopes of Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto, the no.4 seed (12-10, 11-8, 11-6, 7-11, 7-11, 11-8).

…………Fan Zhendong, the no.2 seed, ended German hopes. He prevailed against Timo Boll, the no.6 seed (14-12, 4-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-5).

Women’s Singles

…………Singapore’s Feng Tianwei ended German hopes; the no.9 seed, she recovered from a three games to nil deficit and the brink of defeat in the fourth to beat Shan Xiaona (6-11, 6-11, 9-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-2, 11-2).

…………Japan’s Mima Ito progressed in style; she accounted for Monaco’s Yang Xiaoxin (11-7, 2-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-1).

…………Sun Yingsha prevailed in the all Chinese contest, the no.3 seed, she overcame Chen Xingtong, the no.10 seed (12-10, 11-8, 2-11, 4-11, 12-10, 11-6).

…………The closest match of the round, Wang Yidi ended the aspirations of colleague Wang Manyu (6-11, 11-9, 5-11, 11-9, 11-4, 6-11, 13-11).

Men’s Doubles: Final

…………China’s Liang Jingkun and Xu Xin beat Germany’s Benedikt Duda and Qiu Dang (11-13, 11-9, 11-9, 11-9) to seal the title.

Women’s Doubles: Final

……….. Korea Republic’s Jeon Jihee and Yang Haeun, the no.4 seeds, beat Japan’s Miyuu Kihara and Miyu Nagasaki, the no.2 seed (11-5, 4-11, 11-9, 11-7) to secure gold and thus claimed their eighth ITTF World Tour women’s singles title as a pair.

Mixed Doubles: Final

…………Xu Xin and Sun Yingsha beat Wang Chuqin and Wang Manyu (12-10, 11-7, 5-11, 11-7) in the title decider.
