The Arizona Cardinals have selected Heisman Trophy winner and Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray (top left) with the first pick of the 2019 NFL Draft on Thursday night in Nashville, while the New York Giants drafted quarterback Eli Manning's presumed successor in Duke quarterback Daniel Jones (top right). The 38-year-old Manning has one year left on his contract with the Giants. There has been significant speculation about when the struggling franchise would turn away from the two-time Super Bowl MVP. ESPN reported Thursday that Manning plans to 'play somewhere' in 2020, even if it is not in New York. Thursday marked the second time Murray was a first-round pick, following the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft, when he was chosen by the Oakland Athletics. Murray previously agreed to a $4.6 million signing bonus with the Athletics after being taken ninth overall, but that check was never cashed and he is now expected to sign with the Arizona Cardinals. 'Just look at his journey the last nine, 12 months,' said Murray's father Kevin, a former Texas A&M quarterback to ABC. 'Nothing ever occurred like it. From the baseball aspect of it, to being fortunate enough to be drafted by [Oakland Athletics general manager] Billy Beane and a wonderful organization Oakland A's.
