AUCKLAND, New Zealand – American sprint car driver Shane Stewart kicked off the Porter Hire International Sprint Car Series with a victory on Saturday at Western Springs Speedway.

Stewart drove by Jamie Larsen on the 23rd lap and led the final seven circuits to pick up the victory in the winged 410 sprint car feature.

Larsen finished second ahead of Jamie Veal, Daniel Eggleton and American Jonathan Allard.

In midget competition, American Zach Daum bested Hayden Guptill to take home the checkered flag.
