Gladbach stun Bayern with last-gasp penalty

Borussia Monchengladbach stayed top of the Bundesliga on Saturday as Ramy Bensebaini scored twice, including a stoppage-time penalty, in a 2-1 comeback win over champions Bayern Munich, who dropped to sixth in the table.

Ivan Perisic gave the visitors the lead on 49 minutes, but saw his goal cancelled out on the hour mark by a Bensebaini header.

Algeria international Bensebaini later converted from the spot after Javi Martinez was sent off for bringing down Marcus Thuram in the box.

It was another wasteful performance from Bayern, who should have scored several goals through Thomas Muller and the league's top scorer Robert Lewandowski in a dominant first half.

Gladbach keeper Yann Sommer denied Bayern on a number of occasions, including by keeping the ball on the line with his fingertips at one point.

Bayern's Corentin Tolisso was taken off injured, and though his replacement Perisic delivered with his goal, that moment of quality from the Croatia international was not enough to secure a result.

The hosts sprung to life after Perisic's strike and took control of the game.

In an entertaining second half both teams looked for the winner, but it was Gladbach who got it in stoppage time to continue their spectacular title run.

Gladbach are on 31 points at the top of the league, while Bayern -- who suffered their second consecutive league loss -- dropped to sixth place on 24 points with the defeat.
