AD to return against Bucks after 1-game absence

Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis will return Thursday night at Milwaukee after missing one game with a sprained ankle.

Davis did not play in the Lakers' loss at Indiana on Tuesday due to the mild ankle sprain. It was the second game Davis has missed this season. He is leading the team in points (27.4), rebounds (9.3) and blocks (2.6) per game.

Davis tweaked the ankle during Sunday's win against the Hawks. He grabbed at his right ankle when fouled on a layup in the closing minutes, but he was able to finish the game.

The Lakers and Bucks square off with matching 24-4 records, each at the top of their conferences. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the game will be only the third in NBA history between teams 20 games over .500 before Jan. 1.

On Dec. 30, 1980, the 28-8 Celtics beat the 32-8 Suns 116-97. Larry Bird had a triple-double and added five steals, while Tiny Archibald had 25 points and 10 assists in the win. Boston went on to win the NBA Finals that season.

On Dec. 15, 1972, the 23-3 Celtics beat the 25-4 Lakers 102-98. Dave Cowens and John Havlicek outscored Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West 50-40 in the win. The Lakers would go on to reach the NBA Finals.
