DALLAS, Texas – AIM Vasser Sullivan announced Friday that Michael De Quesada will join the team for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
“We’re pleased to announce that Michael De Quesada will join AIM Vasser Sullivan for the IMSA WeatherTech season opening 2020 Rolex 24 at Daytona,” said Jimmy Vasser, co-owner of AIM Vasser Sullivan. “Michael is a young up and coming driver and we look forward to having him compete in the AVS Lexus RC F GT3 at Daytona.”
AIM Vasser Sullivan will campaign two identically prepared Lexus RC F GT3s at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona class.
De Quesada will be making his second Rolex 24 at Daytona start. His first start was a success concluding in a GT Daytona Class win in 2017. He will complete the No. 14 AIM Vasser Sullivan driver line-up for this year’s Rolex 24 joining full-time drivers Jack Hawksworth and Parker Chase as well as reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch. In 2019, the team’s inaugural IMSA season, the No. 14 AVS Lexus debuted with a fifth place finish in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
De Quesada, 20, from Tampa, Fla., forged a successful GT career. He won the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Gold class in Canada in 2016, was second in 2015 and third in 2017. In 2018, he competed in the Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup and the Porsche Carrera Cup in Germany. For 2019 he drove in the Pirelli World Challenge.
“I want to thank Jimmy Vasser, Sulli and Andrew Bordin for this opportunity,” said De Quesada. “I have been taking some time off to concentrate on school and this situation allows me to focus on both things I care about. I am looking forward to driving the Lexus RC F GT3 and working with such outstanding drivers as Jack Hawksworth, Kyle Busch and a friend from my karting days Parker Chase. This will be my second Rolex 24, I had a GTD class win in 2017. Hopefully, we can carry on the magic with such a strong car and team.”
