Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy is self-isolating after being tested for coronavirus, sources have told ESPN.
A relative of Mendy's is believed to have suffered respiratory problems on Thursday and was taken to hospital.
In response, Mendy has been tested for COVID-19 and while City wait for the results, the Frenchman has been ordered to go into self-isolation at home.
The 25-year-old is now unlikely to feature against Burnley at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
A club spokesman said: "The club is aware that a family member of a senior men's team player is in hospital with symptoms of a respiratory illness. He has undergone tests at hospital, one of which is for COVID-19.
"Until the results are known, the player in question is self isolating as a precaution."
City's Champions League clash with Real Madrid, scheduled to take place at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, has already been postponed after the Spanish side were placed into quarantine. Arsenal's visit to the Etihad on Wednesday was also called off.
