SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Indoor Auto Racing Championship finale, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Fairgrounds Expo in Syracuse, N.Y., has been canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus situation.
Promoter Len Sammons originally planned to move forward with the event, but New York Governor Anthony Cuomo announced Thursday afternoon that he was banning gatherings of 500 people or more across the state to prevent the spread of the virus.
“Len Sammons Motorsports Productions and the Indoor Auto Racing Championship make the health and safety of our fans and partners a priority and because of that the state of New York has forced our hand and we are canceling this weekends events,” Sammons said in a statement.
