MEXICO CITY -- Liga MX will suspend play after Round 10 in the 2020 Clausura concludes this weekend with Sunday night's derby between Club America and Cruz Azul.

Games on Friday were played in front of fans as normal, but Liga MX announced Saturday that the remaining games would be behind closed doors, with the league finally suspending all play starting Monday because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"The measure announced today will remain in place until further notice and the resumption of play will be decided in co-ordination with the federal government's health secretariat," Liga MX said in a statement.

The suspension means next weekend's round of 11 games won't be played as scheduled. Round 12 is scheduled to start on April 3, after the FIFA international date, in 19 days.

The measures include Liga MX Femenil -- Mexico's professional women's league -- and the second division.

In the first two matches of Round 10 on Friday, Morelia defeated Queretaro 4-0 in front of 17,432 and Club Tijuana beat Pachuca 3-2 before a crowd of 16,333. A crowd of 22,289 saw Pumas and Cruz Azul tie 0-0 in Liga MX Femenil in Mexico City on Saturday.

Mexico had a total of 41 positive tests for the coronavirus as of Saturday evening, and classes in public schools have been suspended from March 20 until April 20.

CONCACAF announced Friday that it was postponing all of its events for 30 days, including the men's Olympic qualifying tournament, which was due to begin on March 20 in Guadalajara, and the Champions League.

MLS suspended its season for 30 days starting Thursday, while the Mexico and U.S. men's national teams have had their friendlies in the FIFA international break later this month canceled.
