Sources: Meunier to leave PSG for Dortmund

Belgium international defender Thomas Meunier has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund next season, sources have told ESPN.

Meunier, 28, is out of contract at PSG in June and will sign a four-year deal worth around €50 million, including a signing-on fee, for the German club. The Belgian wanted to stay in Paris, where he arrived from Club Brugge in the summer of 2016, but could not reach an agreement for a new contract with the French champions.

Instead, he will continue his career in the Bundesliga. Dortmund, who already have two Belgium internationals in their squad in Axel Witsel and Thorgan Hazard, will lose their current right-back, Achraf Hakimi, who is going back to Real Madrid after his two-year loan spell at the Signal Iduna Park ends, and Meunier is a natural replacement. Dortmund were keen to sign him before he went to PSG four years ago.

He is one of four players out of contact in June at PSG. Layvin Kurzawa, the left-back who almost joined Juventus in January, will leave as well, with the Italian giants still a likely destination. Edinson Cavani became the club's all-time record goal-scorer this season. But at 33, his best years are behind him. Thiago Silva is even older (35) and has been at the club since 2012. However, he too won't be offered an extension.
