Coronavirus: Kevin Durant And More Top Athletes Tested Positive Coronavirus: Kevin Durant And More Top Athletes Tested Positive
Kevin Durant is one of four members of the Brooklyn Nets basketball team to have tested positive for the coronavirus, just days after the NBA halted play to help contain the outbreak. Durant told the Athletic that he’s feeling fine after learning of the test result. Earlier, the team announced one of the four unidentified players had exhibited symptoms of coronavirus. All four are isolated and under the care of team doctors. The Nets tested the team after returning from a road trip to San Francisco, and the results came back recently, according to a person familiar with the situation. The team paid a private company to conduct the tests, the person said. One player woke up with some aches, but the rest have experienced no symptoms. The Nets are notifying anyone who has had known contact with the players, including recent opponents, and is working with state and local health authorities. The NBA stopped play last week to help prevent the spread of the virus, and an announcement confirmed that players are at risk. The rest of the team and members of the traveling party are being asked to isolate, monitor their health and maintain constant communication with team doctors. “The health of our players and staff is of the highest priority to the organization, and the team is doing everything within its power to ensure that those affected receive the best care possible,” the team said in a statement. The NBA suspended play after a member of the Utah Jazz tested positive. Since then, almost all global sports have ceased play. At least seven NBA players have tested positive, the New York Times said. Separately, Premier League team Chelsea was among those in quarantine after winger Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive. He posted a video on his Twitter account saying he has recovered.
