GT Celebration Series Postpones Inaugural Event

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Due to recent COVID-19 virus shutdown, the new GT Celebration Race Series, a 12-race, six-weekend GT3 sports car campaign, has adjusted its schedule.

The original season opener at Thunderhill Raceway Park has been moved to July 31-Aug. 2 as the third weekend of the newly-established motorsports tour.

In addition, Rob Morgan, CEO and founder of the GT Celebration Race Series, is working closely with Sonoma Raceway officials on the scheduled May 15-17 weekend if that three-day event might also need to be rescheduled. That information will be determined in the near future.

As the season moves forward now, the GT Celebration Race Series has now opened its driver and car registration portals with online registration through the series official website, www.gtcelebration.com. Now is a good time to select the driver’s car number and pick up the team’s sticker kits early.

Recently, the new Technical and Sporting regulations were instituted by the series officials and are also available at www.gtcelebration.com.

“We would like to thank the officials at Thunderhill Raceway Park for their understanding in the current COVID-19 crisis,” said Morgan, a former NASCAR and IMSA driver as well as sanctioning body official.

“We were excited for the Thunderhill event as we had 12-14 entries expected for the opener. We were able to adjust our series scheduling with the track quickly and efficiently and produce a strong overall series for our racers. With the current worldwide situation with COVID-19, we will keep our competitors, sponsors, officials and fans abreast of any other changes which might occur. Our series will have a ‘no-pressure’ environment and the opportunity for drivers to hone on-track skills as well as enjoy friendly competition in some of the world’s most capable machinery at some of the best racetracks in the country.”

The GT Celebration Race Series was launched to feature Bronze-rated and below drivers with retired FIA GT3 race cars and generate a fun overall weekend atmosphere setting throughout the three-day race events.
