GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Buffalo Wild Wings Northern Outlaw Sprint Ass’n will set out this season with a 32-race schedule.
As has been the case for 26 of its 27 seasons, the NOSA calendar will open at the three-tenths-mile bullring of River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks on Friday, April 24.
River Cities Speedway will host 18 NOSA events this season, with Friday, Aug. 14 being the lone event that will not pay series points, as it conflicts with the 60th running of the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals.
The NOSA Sprints will make their 10th appearance in series history to Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn. on Sunday, May 24. They will return to the tight, semi-banked quarter-mile oval on Saturday, Sept. 5.
On Saturday, May 30, the series will head 65 miles west of Grand Forks to Devils Lake Speedway in Doyon, N.D., for their only visit of the season.
For the first time since 1997, the NOSA Sprints will visit Ada, Minnesota’s Norman County Raceway twice in a single season. Those two events are scheduled for Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday, Aug. 6.
A track that has quickly become a popular stop on the schedule has been the fast, high-banked quarter-mile of Casino Speedway. For the third consecutive year, the NOSA Sprints will return to the Watertown, S.D., oval with an event scheduled for Sunday, June 28.
A three-race swing is set for the weekend of July 10-12. It will begin with Friday night racing at River Cities Speedway, followed by NOSA’s return to the “high-flying half-mile” of Viking Speedway in Alexandria, Minn., on Saturday, July 11.
The NOSA Sprints have competed at Viking Speedway 11 times, but it’s been eight years since the series has last been there. The most recent event was won by Lakefield, Minnesota’s Skylar Prochaska on August 25th, 2012.
The weekend will conclude with some #410sAndFerrisWheels with a visit to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D during the Red River Valley Fair on Sunday, July 12.
Red River Valley Speedway has hosted the NOSA Sprints eight times since 2012. Mark Dobmeier picked up the victory last year in what was his first career win at the speedway.
For the fourth consecutive year and 14th time overall, the Northern Outlaws will head to Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, N.D. The event slated for Saturday, July 25 will offer another opportunity for the NOSA drivers to get up on the wheel on another high-banked, fast quarter-mile oval.
The NOSA schedule is highlighted by a double-header at Dacotah Speedway during the prestigious Governor’s Cup for the third consecutive year. Big car counts and high speeds on the three-eighths mile oval will be seen on Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1.
