Former Feyenoord manager and ex-Manchester United defender Jaap Stam is a candidate for the vacant FC Cincinnati position, a source has confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.

Along with Stam, the source confirmed that LA Galaxy assistant coach and ex-Houston Dynamo manager Dominic Kinnear is also being considered for the job in Cincinnati.

The Athletic was first to report Stam's and Kinnear's candidacies.

Stam played for several Dutch clubs before moving to United in 1998, where he won three Premier League titles and the 1998-99 Champions League. He finished his playing career with stints at Lazio, Milan, and Ajax.

As well as Feyenoord, Stam has managed English side Reading and Dutch club PEC Zwolle.

Kinnear has been a MLS stalwart as both a player and coach since the league's founding in 1996. After his playing days, he was an assistant for the San Jose Earthquakes when they won the MLS Cup in 2001 and 2003. He remained at the club when it relocated to Houston and won consecutive titles in 2006-07 as manager.

He later coached the Earthquakes when the league awarded San Jose a second franchise before he was fired in 2017. He has been an assistant for the Galaxy since 2018.

Yoann Damet has been the interim coach for FC Cincinnati since Ron Jans resigned on Feb. 17 amid an investigation into his alleged use of a racial slur.

MLS suspended all play on March 12 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
