NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. – Twenty-seven 410 sprint car drivers have pre-entered for Saturday’s Open Wheel Nationals program at Park Jefferson Int’l Speedway.
The event is being promoted by longtime driver Terry McCarl’s Front Row Challenge Enterprises, and tentatively marks the first major sprint car event held since racing in the United States was halted in mid-March amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the heavy hitters on the pre-entry list are multi-time All Star Circuit of Champions titlist Aaron Reutzel, Australian brothers Ian and Kerry Madsen, California hotshoe Cory Eliason and reigning Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship runner-up Blake Hahn.
Five entry slots still remain for the 410 sprint car field at Park Jefferson. A maximum of 32 teams are being permitted to run the event to adhere with social distancing standards.
The companion IMCA modified class is full at 32 pre-entries, including former NASCAR stars Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace, as well as longtime IMCA standout Ricky Thornton Jr.
