GAFFNEY, S.C. — Cherokee Speedway will host the inaugural Palmetto Invitational for super late models on Saturday night.

The event is a joint venture among Cherokee Speedway, DC II LLC Concrete Construction Company and Speed51.

No fans will be permitted in the grandstands and teams will be limited to five people per car and expected to practice social distancing. The event will be streamed live.

The race will be an invite-only affair for super late model competitors at the three-eighths-mile dirt oval. Fifty drivers have been invited to compete, with the winner earning $10,000 following a 60-lap feature.

Jonathan Davenport, Darrell Lanigan and Ross Bailes have already confirmed participation in the event.

The Palmetto Invitational is the second invite-only dirt late model event to be announced in the last two days for the Carolina region. Veteran racer and promoter Ray Cook is promoting an invite-only super late model event at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, N.C., on Thursday.
